My Review of Schomp BMW:
The customer service is first rate. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted and asked if we would like a drink while we waited. The fridge was packed with ice water and different types of soda. There was also a late machine for hot drinks. We didn't wait more than 5 minutes and Mike was ready to go with us on a test drive of the car we were looking at. On the drive, Mike explained the buying/selling policies to us and we got to know each other a bit. It was very friendly and we were able to test drive on the highway and in town. The car is my dream car and I LOVE driving it. Paperwork went smoothly and we were very happy with the services all around! Thank you. I would gladly recommend Schomp BMW to my friends. I would shop there again. Thank you. Marti

I trust his expertise and know the job will get done as promised at a reasonable price.

My Review of Schomp BMW:
The service dept was able to find an update to my car software. The car does not hesitate when I drive off from a full stop. They also were able to tell me why my key fobs were no being recognized, due to me leaving the fob in the car. A big no-no. Also the am stations were making lots of popping noises. They found a defect with the insulation and corrected it. Got the best customer service ever!!!

2011 BMW 335i Performance Edition Package Priced at $550

Bmw8
Just the Facts:

  • As BMW gears up for production this fall of the new F30 3 Series in Europe, U.S. dealers are offering a $550 Performance Edition package on the outgoing 2011 335i sedan.
  • The upgrade boosts output to 320 horsepower and torque to 332 pound-feet on cars with automatic transmissions.
  • BMW also plans to offer the Performance Edition as a retrofit package to existing 135i and 335i owners, with pricing to be announced next month.

WOODCLIFF LAKE, New Jersey — As BMW gears up for production this fall of the new F30 3 Series in Europe, U.S. dealers are offering a $550 Performance Edition package on the outgoing 2011 335i sedan. BMW said Wednesday it also plans to offer the Performance Edition as a retrofit package to existing 135i and 335i owners, with pricing to be announced next month.

Both versions of the package include a Power Kit software upgrade for the turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine, which in stock trim is rated at 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque. The Power Kit boosts output to 320 hp, while torque climbs to 317 lb-ft with the six-speed manual and 332 lb-ft with the six-speed automatic.

The power boost trims the 0-60 acceleration time by 0.2 second, without affecting fuel economy or emissions, BMW said.

The package also comes bundled with black kidney grilles and a BMW Performance Edition badge.

The Performance Edition package carries the option code ZMZ and is available with either the Sport Pack (ZCP) on the standard 335i or the M Sport Pack (ZMP) on the 335i xDrive sedan.

Inside Line says: Seems like a relatively inexpensive way to move out remaining stocks of E90 sedans.

BMW unveils London 2012 Olympics vehicles

BMW has unveiled a range of cars, motorcycles and bicycles that will be used during the 2012 Olympics in London.

The main automotive sponsor of the Games wants to use the event to showcase its green technology.

Some 4,000 BMW vehicles will roam the streets of the UK capital next summer, with many of them electric or petrol-electric hybrids.

In addition, conventional diesel-powered cars will be used, BMW said.

Unveiling the largest car that will be used, a BMW 520d that can travel 63 miles on a gallon of diesel whilst emitting just 119 g/km carbon dioxide, Ian Robertson, BMW Group's global sales and marketing director, insisted the company has "driven our carbon dioxide emissions down more than any other car company, particularly in the premium sector".

BMW has reduced its average emissions by 5.1% in the last year alone, versus 3.4% for Audi and 3.3% for Mercedes. The Dow Jones Sustainability Index has named BMW Group the "most sustainable automobile company worldwide" six years in a row.

This, Mr Robertson pointed out, helped BMW to win the Olympics contract, as the company complied with London's demand for a fleet of low emission vehicles.

It should also be a distinct competitive advantage that could help it to boost sales from 1.6 million cars this year and to two million by 2020, he predicted.

"Just like safety was part of premium in the 1970s, sustainability is part of premium today," Mr Robertson said.

In Europe, where there is a greater focus on emissions than elsewhere in the world, average carbon dioxide emissions from the BMW fleet have fallen to 146g/km, though this belies the company's reliance on sales of larger and considerably thirstier models in the markets where growth is the strongest, such as Asia and the US.

Indeed, while putting considerable effort into making low emission models, BMW is also clinging to its image as a producer of high-performance cars with big, powerful - and thus thirsty - engines.

Such apparently conflicting values are likely to result in further "brand separation" in the future, where the company adopts different marketing strategies for, for instance, its electric sub-brand BMW i and its high performance, and far from green, sub-brand BMW M.

Bikes and scooters

BMW is also moving beyond its core activities of building cars and motorcycles, and working on different products.

In cities in particular, cars may not always be the best vehicles to get around, so the company is working to develop both different vehicles and new services.

BMW is using the Olympics as a platform to launch products in new market segments. It is adding a pedelec - or an electric bicycle - to its range of bikes, and is launching a range of scooters.

"The scooter market around the world has been growing dramatically in recent years, particularly in urban environments," Mr Robertson said, pointing to how small motorcycle and scooter sales have doubled to about 40 million a year in recent years, while large bike sales have dropped in the past five years from about 1.5 million to about 750,000.

Some 200 electric Mini and BMW cars will also be part of the 2012 Olympic fleet.

"Electric vehicles are definitely part of the future solutions," Mr Robertson said, though he forecast that conventional petrol and diesel engines would remain the dominant technology for several decades yet.

'Mobility solutions'

The range of new services, as opposed to products, is still being developed. Many of them have been dreamt up by partners operating outside the motor industry, Mr Robertson said.

To encourage them, BMW has created a $100m venture capital fund, named BMW i Ventures, that will invest in small start-up companies.

So far, the fund has invested in a project called MyCityWay, which allows people to look at live traffic cameras on their smartphones to help them chose whether to drive, take the tube or ride a bike to where they are going.

It has also invested in ParkatmyHouse, which makes more parking available for drivers while earning home owners a crust.

With about a third of drivers in cities looking for a place to park at any one time, this should help improve traffic flow and thus cut overall emissions, Mr Robertson reasoned.

"Mobility solutions of the future have become an integral part of the car industry, so either you get onboard or you're in real trouble," he said.

BMW is back in Hollywood with Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol

Munich/Los Angeles. Back in Hollywood. BMW is pleased to announce their participation in the upcoming Paramount Pictures release “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol” as the film’s main automotive partner.

High performance with fewer emissions is the name of the game: One of the BMW vehicles provided for Tom Cruise´s next film is the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics concept car. It has been recognized as having the most sophisticated technology and the most striking design among the current concept electric supercars. In a few years the BMW i8, which was inspired by the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics concept vehicle, will enter series production.

“We are thrilled to be involved again in another Hollywood Blockbuster,” said Ian Robertson, BMW AG Board Member for Sales and Marketing. “The BMW Group leads the way in developing future mobility with a focus on sustainability. One great example is the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics concept car which will be presented in the film. With its futuristic design and large glass surfaces, the car offers a fascinating perspective on the future of sheer driving pleasure – in combination with maximum efficiency. Also with BMW ConnectedDrive technology, it is the perfect car for Ethan Hunt to outsmart his pursuers through narrow streets and busy city traffic.”

Schomp BMW is honored by this latest review

Schomp BMW is proud to say that we received six outstanding reviews over the weekend!

I really wanted a pretty blue SUV. I had purchased a grey X5 in March and absolutely love it but always wondered if it was up to the quality of used cars that I need. I thought about trading the grey one in on the blue one, but then decided to keep both. The blue 2002 X5 was in wonderful shape and so clean and pretty. Just what I expect in an used car. The price on it was extremely fair and I was happy to make the purchase.

I found the blue X5 on the internet and drove down to Denver to just go on an "adventure" more or less. I was 100% certain that I would buy but when I say the vehicle, I was sold. Then the customer service regarding how could I get the new X5 home and my other one too was exceptional. I left my grey X5 there to be inspected by your men and while they did find some issues that need to be attended to pretty quickly, I think I am going to keep it as well and use it in the winter time. Tom Todd was the nicest and most down to earth person. I LOVE the no pressure sales and I also love the ONE PRICE. I hate haggling.

I thank you all so much for making this X5 purchase such a positive experience and I thank your service team for inspecting my other X5 and letting me know what it needed to bring it up to par with the type of vehicle I need to be able to rely on.

My entire experience was excellent. Paul was very attentive and very forthright with information, pricing, etc. As promised, the process moved at a great pace. From the time I arrived to time drive, through making a decision and completing the paperwork, was all less than 1.5 hours. My "delivery" experience was also great. I drove away feeling that I had a full understanding of the vehicle...great service.

Service is professional and complete. People really care about my cars. My schedule is accommodated. Sales people are patient. Christian in parts is very helpful.

Wayland was great to work with-he agreed to make some changes to the used car we were considering so that we felt comfortable with our purchase. He also got our information before we finalized the sale so that the actual signing was quick and efficient.

This purchase was made over the phone from Arizona. We knew what we wanted and Steven was able to go through step by step with me to get what we wanted. He was very patient with us, we did do a lot of switching, but he was great! We can't wait to pick it up in a couple of weeks.

-switzbmw

Robb was great, very informative and patient the entire time. He was even willing to drive us to the other Schomp dealer to look at a car we had spotted there. Hope he is still there when we are in the market again. Vonni Jones
