2014 BMW X4 Confirmed by CEO
- The 2014 BMW X4 is seen as a companion to the X3 and a smaller sibling of the sporty X6.
- The new X4 may be assembled at BMW's South Carolina plant.
- The X4 will share powertrains with the X3, including a range of four- and six-cylinder gas and diesel engines.
MUNICH — BMW CEO Norbert Reithofer has confirmed the automaker will build the long-rumored X4. Due in 2014, the new X4 is seen in Europe as a competitor to the 2013 Porsche Cajun and is being positioned by BMW as a companion to the X3 and a smaller sibling of the sporty X6.
European reports say the X4 is likely to be assembled at BMW's South Carolina plant. It will share powertrains with the X3, including a range of four- and six-cylinder gas and diesel engines.
In an interview with Germany's Auto Motor und Sport, Reithofer said, "Yes, we have positioned above the X3 a BMW X4." Reithofer said the new model would be roughly the same size as the X3. The magazine said the X4 will feature BMW's xDrive four-wheel drive, automatic start-stop, head-up display and voice control.
As shown in the artist's rendering, the X4 is expected to get the same "four-door coupe SUV" styling as the X6.
BMW also plans a full-blown X4 M performance edition, with twin-turbo straight-6 and seven-speed DCT from the company's M division.
Inside Line says: It will be a winner.

My Review of Schomp BMW:
Made my first trip to Schomp BMW on 9/16/2011 on a recommendation from a friend. The recommendation did not do this dealership justice. From the moment I entered the showroom to leaving in my new 335i xDrive sedan I felt comfortable, relaxed and confident that I was making the right decision. If you're in the market for a BMW or want a quality experience and a car dealership, this is the place to go!

My Review of Schomp BMW:
A very pleasant experience working with Brian and his support team purchasing a Certified used BMW. It was refreshing to just work with one person from the start to finish and not have to deal with all of the stuff that has always made car buying unpleasant for me.

We here at Schomp BMW are grateful of the latest 5 Star Reviews on DealerRater. Great job to Wilson Todd and Len Birnbaum for their excellent service as detailed in the reviews.

My Review of Schomp BMW:
My wife (Melissa) bought a 2002 530i from Schomp BMW through Wilson Todd Saturday evening (9/17). We had come to see a 325cic but it had already moved on. We drove a 325 and the 530 and the 530 was the best fit for us. We had never purchased from Schomp before and were not familiar with their "one" policy. Schomp BMW sales policy is simply fantastic. But furthermore, Wilson made the experience unbelievable - He explained everything about the cars we were looking at; he listened to our wants/needs; he stayed more than 2 hours after closing to complete our sale! I can't say enough good things about Wilson (and the whole experience). We are sold on Schomp and Wilson Todd.
Employee(s) Dealt With: Len Birnbaum
My Review of Schomp BMW:
I went for a test drive on X3 28i today. I’d like to thank you for a wonderful service and a warm welcome experience that you gave to me and my husband. Len Birnbaum, Client Advisor really took the time to answer all of my questions and concerns. He didn’t try to push any pressure on me to buy a car, but simply gave me necessary information. We both are very impressed with his patience including other staffs in the showroom; they approached us with professional manners. We'll contact you again soon.
Regards,

Frankfurt 2011: 2012 BMW M5 is “A Lot of Fun”
BMW board member Klaus Draeger set the tone for the M5′s arrival by describing it as, “Ready for everyday use but with the character of a true sports car.” Draeger continued to point out that the new M5 is about 30 percent more fuel-efficient than the outgoing car, even though the 2012 model makes about 10 percent more power (555 hp, 550 lb-ft of torque for American models). The M5 was even parked alongside BMW’s futuristic eco concepts, the i3 electric car and the i8 plug-in hybrid
Fortunately, all is not lost in the name of economy: “M cars are designed to be fun,” Draeger said, “And I guarantee, the new BMW M5 is a lot of fun.”
As is to prove that point of, the M5 was driven left the stage in a hurry, the exhaust growling and barking as the car accelerated into the recesses of BMW’s stage. We know the new M5 looks good and sounds good — now we just need to get some time behind the wheel.

Employee(s) Dealt With: Alex Kenyon
My Review of Schomp BMW:
Alex was very quick to address my request for determining which lease/ car would be best. He had a nice approach that i don't find with other dealerships. I own a Mercedes as well and have had the opposite feeling from them.

My Review of Schomp BMW:
This was the easiest car purchasing experience EVER! The fellows/NOT Car Salesmen were a delight to work with. I am still learning all of the "systems" and I am sure someday soon I will know how to maximize all. So the long and the short of it was and still is Terrific!

Laser-powered headlights on fast track at BMW
They'll have an intensity 1,000 times greater than conventional LEDs, but save energy

"After LED technology, laser light is the next logical step in car light development," the company said in a statement.
The laser diodes powering the next generation of headlights will have an intensity that is 1,000 times greater than conventional light-emitting diode, or LED, technology but consume only half the energy.
Laser diodes will also be about 100 times smaller than the small, square-shaped LED cells.
While it would theoretically be possible for BMW to reduce the size of headlights using laser diodes, the carmaker says it currently has no plans to do that.
Instead, "the size advantages could be used to reduce the depth of the headlight unit, and so open up for headlight positioning and body styling," BMW said.
The light from the laser diodes is blue but will be converted into a pure white light that is "suitable for use in road traffic,” BMW said. This conversion also makes the laser light safe for humans and animals.
The laser headlights are expected to make their first appearance in the BMW concept vehicle, the BMW i8.
Thank you to David for sharing this kind review with us and great job Wilson for excellent service! Take a look at the other new 5 Star Reviews for Schomp BMW on DealerRater as well.
Employee(s) Dealt With: Wilson Todd, Denis, Lisa, Tyler
My Review of Schomp BMW:
My wife and I were very impressed with Schomp BMW and the employees we encountered there. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. I feel like our salesman, Wilson, was very knowledgeable on BMWs as was our delivery specialists, Tyler. We feel we received a good deal on the car and will not hesitate to recommend Schomp to our friends.
Employee(s) Dealt With: Len B.
My Review of Schomp BMW:
I really enjoyed car shopping with Len. He knew exactly what I wanted and gave me lots of advise, as I am new to the BMW family. My dad and brother both drive BMW's from Schomp and now I can see why! My x3 came in even earlier than expected and I was thrilled! It was a good decision choosing Schomp BMW.
Employee(s) Dealt With: Wilson Todd, Denis White was outstanding
My Review of Schomp BMW:
You have a great Team Leader in Denis White. He took the time to explain the ups and downs of what comes with the 2012 versus the 2011 X5 premium package, and what he could do to help solve my problem with the garage door openers being missing. He (Denis) took the initiative to take me to the parts department and found it possible to change out the mirror and put one on with the openers. I always enjoy coming to your dealership, because of the efficient services your dealership provides.
